The two years (full-time) Master degree course is designed to provide high level of understanding in Bio-statistics and Demography including an in-depth knowledge of the linkages between statistics and various socio-economic, health and environmental factors. This course provides foundation to graduate students and prepare them to apply the concept of bio-statistics in various aspects related to population.
Eligibility
Candidates having B.A./B.Sc. degree in Bio-statistics or Health Statistics or Mathematics or Statistics or having B.A./B.Sc. degree with two full papers on Mathematics or Statistics from a recognized university in India or abroad with a minimum of 55% (50% for reserved candidates) of aggregate marks/equivalent grade in all subjects will be eligible for admission. Eligible foreign candidates can also apply for admission provided they secure financial support from any outside agency.
Candidate who have already passed the qualifying examinations and those who have already appeared/ shall be appearing in the final qualifying examinations are eligible to apply. However, admission of the candidate will be cancelled if he/she fails to furnish the final examination result by September 30th of every year.
The upper age limit is 25 years as on June 30
th of every year. Marks and age will be relaxed for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PWD/EWS categories as per Government of India rules only.
Selection Criteria
The selection will be made on the basis of an Online Test. The Online Entrance Test will comprise objective type questions of multiple choices. The syllabus of Entrance Test will consist of basic General Knowledge, Logical Reasoning, English Grammar, Population, Health and Statistics/Mathematics. The test venue will be notified in the Admit Card. Admission test will not be conducted for the foreign candidates and the admission will be offered directly if the foreign candidates fulfil the eligibility criteria of the Institute.

Each selected Indian student will be awarded a Government of India fellowship @ Rs. 5000/- per month.

Elective paper can be changed if the student fails in an elective paper and submits his/her request for a change in writing.$ Evaluation procedure for dissertation (weights): Guide - 0.25, Presentation & Defense – 0.25, Content – 0.50. The grade for ‘presentation & defense must also be given independently by each member, and submitted to the controller of examinations independently. For content, the director may appoint a three-member committee for each dissertation. The three members should independently evaluate the dissertation and independently submit the grades to the controller of examinations.
