Shri Praveer Kumar

                                          Principal Accountant General

Shri Praveer Kumar is a 1999 Batch officer of Indian Audit and Accounts Service, having wide experience of working in the Office of Comptroller and Auditor General of India, as well as field offices of Indian Audit and Accounts Department. He has held important positions in the areas of Civil Audit, Defense Audit and Commercial Audit.

Prior to his current assignment, Shri Kumar served as Principal Director of Audit in Embassy of India at Washington DC, United States (2019-2021). He held the portfolio of Principal Director (Personnel) at the Office of Comptroller and Auditor General of India during 2017 to 2019. He has also overseen the audit of Public Sector Undertakings in Oil, Power and Shipping Sector during his tenure as Principal Director of Commercial Audit at Kolkata (2015-17). 

During early part of his career, Shri Kumar had worked in the areas of Works Audit at Jammu, Commercial Audit at Srinagar, J&K and Air Force Audit at New Delhi. He also handled accounts and administration charges at Patna. He possesses rich global experience, gained during his audit assignments at multilateral organizations like IARC, Lyon, World Health Organization, Geneva, World Food Program, Nairobi and United Nations Peace Keeping Operations, New York. He also rendered his services to Supreme Audit Institution of Sultanate of Oman as an expert during 2004-2005.

Shri Kumar is a Graduate of Science from Allahabad University and an MBA (International Business) from Delhi University. He has also attained professional qualifications like Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) from IIA and Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) from ISACA. He hails from Samastipur in Bihar. His interests include reading and hiking.

Shri Praveer Kumar assumed charge as Accountant General (A&E) II, Maharashtra on 01.09.2021.

The Office of the Accountant General (Accounts & Entitlement)-II, Maharashtra, Nagpur came into its present form on 1-3-1984, consequent to the restructuring of the Indian Audit & Accounts Department. The New building, situated in West High Court Road, Civil Lines houses the Accounts and General Provident Funds Wing and the Old building houses the Pension Branch Office.

Composition of staff 

The gazetted staff belonging to Group ’A’ consists of members of the Indian Audit & Accounts Service. The gazetted staff belonging to Group ’B’ consists of members of Central Civil Service Accounts Officers; Assistant Accounts Officers, Divisional Accounts Officers and Senior Personal Assistants. The non-gazetted staff belonging to Group ’B’ consists of Supervisors, Selection Grade Divisional Accountants, Senior Accountants, Personal Assistants; Group ‘C’ consists of Accountants, Stenographers, Clerks and Typist, Selection Grade Record Keepers, Record Keepers, Drivers etc. and Group ’D’ Government Servants.

The Accountant General (Accounts & Entitlement)-II, Maharashtra, Nagpur exercises overall control of the various activities in the office. The Accountant General is assisted by three Group Officers and various Branch Officers.
