Engagement with Multilateral Forums

1) BRICS

BRICS is a multilateral forum of five major emerging economies of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. SAI India participated in the 2nd Meeting of BRICS SAIs Leaders held virtually on 25.08.2020 coordinated by SAI Russia. The Comptroller and Auditor General of India of India participated and presented a speech on SAI India’s response to COVID-19 expressing SAI India's efforts to implement strict nationwide lockdown and ensure adequate supplies of medical equipment and medicines. SAI India also hosted BRICS SAIs expert level virtual meeting on the theme “Audit of implementation of public programmes related to Education and Health” held virtually on 10-11 March, 2021.

2) XXIII Commonwealth Auditors General Conference

The Comptroller and Auditor General of India has been participating actively in the triennial Conferences of Commonwealth Auditors' General. The XXII Conference was held at Malta from 24 to 27 March 2014 on the theme "Securing Independence of Supreme Audit Institutions to Improve the Effectiveness of Reporting and Communication of Audit Findings". The XXIII Commonwealth Auditors General Conference was hosted by SAI India at New Delhi, India from 21-23 March, 2017. The themes for the XXIII Commonwealth Auditors General Conference were (i) Leveraging technology in public audit and (ii) Environment audit: A Commonwealth perspective under the overarching theme - “Fostering Partnerships for Capacity Development in Public Audit”. The next Commonwealth Auditors General Conference will be hosted by SAI Fiji in 2022.

3) Shanghai Cooperation Organization(SCO)

The Comptroller and Auditor General of India is the member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization(SCO). The SCO is a world's largest regional organization in geographic scope and population. The member countries of SCO are China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, India and Pakistan.

4) Global Audit Leadership Forum (GALF)

The Comptroller & Auditor General of India is a member of the Global Audit Leadership Forum (GALF)-formerly known as Global Working Group (GWG). The GALF is a forum which provides a select group of twenty three Auditors General to meet for organized yet informal discussions on current and emerging issues of concern to their governments and offices and to explore opportunities to share information and work closely together.
